Terms & Conditions for Purchase of Parts

Mandatory Conditions of Sale

Any customer requesting and receiving pre and post war MG parts and, or advice from Vintage MG Parts is doing so on the basis that they accept Vintage MG Parts terms and conditions of engagement, as set out below:

Pricing – All prices on this website are not subject to payment of VAT and parts are generally available at the specified website price. Vintage MG Parts always try to keep the website fully updated although reserve the right to amend prices without prior notice.

Our prices are inclusive of packaging cost and preparation. Where large parts are being specially provided via a third party working on behalf of Vintage MG Parts then there may be a separate postal charge and the customer will be advised accordingly.

Method of Posting / Carriage and general postal / courrier matters – Vintage MG Parts endeavour to select what they consider to be the most appropriate method of courier / postal service. This will predominantly be chosen on reliability / service track record combined with cost effectiveness. Customers can specify their own preferred transportation service or can arrange for goods to be collected either in person or, by their own chosen service provider.

In addition to the above, Vintage MG Parts will always endeavour to keep customer postage costs to a minimum through selecting appropriate packaging materials in order to keep volumetric weights to a minimum whilst having equal regard to protection of parts for safe transit.

Vintage MG Parts retain proof of postage on all goods despatched. Parts with a value of less than £250 will be despatched within the UK with a basic insurance cover rate (for example £20 with Royal Mail) unless the customer specifically requests higher insurance cover to be quoted to provide full cover. Customers not wishing to request / pay enhanced insurance premium to adequately cover the value of an item can do so at their own risk of the item failing to arrive or being damaged in transit. Vintage MG Parts will always retain proof of postage for consignments.

For parts consignments being sent out of the UK Vintage MG Parts will generally quote a fully insured transit figure although we will advise where postal / freight insurance in not covered for certain overseas destinations.

Where a parcel delivery company has been unable to successfully deliver a part to its destination through a tracked service and documentimng more than one delivery attempt is unsuccessful then the customer will be entitled to a refund to the cost of the part only, although provided the consignment is retuned safely. Outbound postage costs will not however be refunded to the customer.

For instances of reported non-delivery by the customer, we ask that customers be patient and allow for a reasonable time period. We do find that postal services worldwide do vary in terms of postage times. We will not usually send out a replacement item until we are confident sufficient time has passed. Replacement parts will only be issued where an insured postal service has been expressly requested by the customer.

Limitations for Guarantee on Parts Being Supplied and Advice Being Given – If Vintage MG Parts have despatched goods which it is later accepts are faulty, then provided this is brought to its attention within 28 days, the company will, at its our option, fully refund the cost of the part in question, or replace the item once it has been returned and in the same condition as sold. Refund / replacement is at the company’s discretion.

Whilst Vintage MG Parts always endeavour to offer parts which are fully fit for purpose, it is the responsibility of the customer / fitter to ensure that supplied parts are inspected and, correctly installed. In the event that a supplied part may have been proved to be defective from source, this company’s liability will only extend to the replacement / refund of the part and with no liability to Vintage MG Parts for consequential loss of any nature whatsoever.

Returns Policy – Vintage MG Parts will accept return of parts (with the exception of Chromium plated components and non-batch produced parts which have been machined up specifically to order), providing it is notified within 28 days of the goods having been received. Goods must be received back in 'as new' condition, must not have been fitted to the vehicle and, we reserves the right to retain a handling charge. Vintage MG Parts must be advised prior to any parts being returned and overseas consignments MUST NOT be returned until special instructions have been issued from this company with regard to postage options and HM Customs declarations to be used.

All chromium parts are always carefully inspected before being sent out to customers. However we will not always refund on return of such parts as experience has proved that these are invariably returned in a lesser standard of condition compared to when despatched by us. We will be happy to discuss on an item by item basis for such parts to be returned.

Whilst Vintage MG Parts will always aim to issue quality parts they will issue full refunds were they deem themselves to be at fault for issuing a component which it deems is not be fit for its purpose.

Special Note on Cast Engine Components – Whilst Vintage MG Parts take great care in trying to ensure that our cast products are free from casting sand deposits and swarf, the onus ultimately rests with the customer / fitter to certify to themselves that such parts are suitably clean for use. Such parts within the Vintage MG Parts inventory include; engine sumps, oil drain housings, camshaft and rocker shaft support castings, cast water jacket plates, water manifolds, carburettors, inlet manifolds and any other parts associated with supercharging. The above list is not exhaustive however and also applies to other items to include fuel and oil tanks.
