KLG L.K.1 Original Style MG Spark Plug Holders

We have been making the MG factory style Lodge 4 cylinder spark plug holder for many years now. However, we have recently made the molds and started making the alternative KLG L.K.1 Spark Plug holder. These are faithful reproductions and with the 'L.K.1' highlighted in white inlay as per the original.

D/F/J Type Clutch Springs

We needed some replacement clutch springs for one of our F Types and decided it was a useful component to add to stock. We have now commissioned our own batch of clutch springs for the D, F and J Type. These have a higher rating than the OHC MM and M type clutch springs, at the usual 83 Ibs / sq inch.

K/L/J4 Oil Filter Housings

We have just run a batch of 8 L/K/J4 Type oil filter housings which are approaching completion on the milling machine. Seven of these are now assigned to customers, with one left for stock. The M/C/D and F Type models were the only MMM engines which had no dedicated oil filter other than the sump strainer. It is, in modern days, good practice to install a proper full flow oil filter system when running these engines and there are available options. However, Vintage MG Parts adopt the period approach and we are about to fit one to one of our F Type engines. We have other customers fitting some of this batch to J2, J4 style and M type engines.

There are options with regard to connecting up the pipework. Vintage MG Parts can undertake the additional machining for those wishing to create a neat internal oil feed arrangement as opposed to the original external feed into the side of the filter housing. Please enquire.

Braided Glace Cord

A typical MMM steering wheel will utilise approximately 46 metres of 3mm diameter braided glace cord. Vintage MG Parts have a company working for them who calibrate the weaving machine to supply this 6 plait braid in apple green. We have also used this cord to bind the road springs with the period 'zig-zag' pattern. It makes a superb job but tough on the fingers to bind! Tip - we use cloth Tessa Tape as a platform, we also then coat the cord with two generous coats of Renovo Ultra Proofer to create a waterproof weather barrier.

Control Box Flexible BZP MMM Style Conduit - 22 Inch x 1 inch (ext. dia.)

Exclusive to Vintage MG Parts, our flexible conduit has an external diameter of 1 inch and an internal of 13/16th inch, diliberately just wide enough to accommodate a MMM wiring loom with additional indicator wiring. We have designed and had made brass ferulle ends with a rolled edge so as not to cut into the wiring loom braiding.

F2/J2 Spare Wheel Carriers - Polished Stainless

We are right in the middle of having 20 polished stainless steel spare wheel carriers manufactured. We last ran these in 2012 and we cannot make to order as one-offs. Seventeen units are now spoken for plus 3 we are keeping for stock, predominantly the 4.50 Blockley size although we may have one 4.00 size (oversize 4.00 tyre size in the Longstone) surplus for stock. We have taken 3 carriers for our own personal MMM cars as we cannot see running any more future batches due to it taking too long to collate a commercially viable order list to produce these. These will be ready shortly and dpending on availability, a £100 deposit will secure one.

Water Rail Manifold

There were several production sources to the MG factory in the 1930s, showing different names or reference numbers and slight variation to patterns. Here, our local pattern maker has copied one of them and expertly receated a uniform wall thickness throughout at circa 5/32 inch producing a robust quality casting weighing just 600g. Castings are LM6, have a smooth ultra fine sand plast finish (not course sand cast finish) and are double resin impregnated.

PA / PB Engine Sumps

We are the sole manufacturers of P type sumps with all machining undertaken in-house. Our patterns produce all the fine detail you would expect, to include the tapped boss on the offside to secure the double breather vent pipe, as per the later P type production. The P type sump was originally made from a light electron type alloy which was light in weight but heavily prone to porosity and did not age well. Our castings are made from LM6, admittedly a little heavier but, made to last.
These sumps are double resin impregnated and are currently in stock.

C/D/M/J Engine Block / Flywheel Housing
Solid Copper Gasket

Unlike other MMM models, the C/D/M and J Type engine has no decent oil union transfer feed between the two castings, simply relying on two machined faces and a paper gasket to retain the oil pressure to the rear main. With the exception to C and J4 models having the benefit of a clutch housing crosstube support arrangement, the other models simply have the weight of the gearbox hanging from the flywheel housing. With weight load and torque stresses, it is therefore not surprising that the rear main delivery can start to leak between the block and flywheel housing and a repair, including removal of the crank flange being necessary. The F type incidentally has a superior oil transfer arrangement and so is not prone to such issues.

Why not eliminate the potential problem during your engine requild. We offer our own half-hard solid copper gaskets which we can also supply annealed.

Back in stock again, BSF Hex Set Bolts & Nuts at very competitive prices.

The Hex screws are R Grade Hi-tensile steel. Full nuts are double chamfer cold form steel. All screws, nuts and spring washers are all bright steel zinc plate. The following packs comprise the specified quantity of Hex set bolts, plus nuts and spring washers:

Brand new tooling from Vintage MG Parts. Now for the first time since the 1930s, spring trunnion covers for the K and N Type, both front and rear. This is a limited one-off batch run now in stock.

Also, new tooling has been made for us to produce trunnion dust covers for the C/F/D/J/P & L Type. The rear trunnion covers have an undersize bore to overcome the usual oil leakage problem.

C/J4 Crankshaft Thrust Plate
With Oil Grooves

Generally, the reproduction thrust plates do not incorporate oil grooves within the thrust contact face and for this reason differ from the standard C/D/M and J Type original design. These grooves provide essential lubrication between the contact surface with the thrust washer.

Price £75 - plate only, £80 including oil seal installed.

We also produce our own VMGP C/J4 front engine mountings which are used in conjunction with the above parts and supercharger drive coupling assemblies. For the latter, we incorporate our own improvements over the general MMM design and have just received another small batch at highly competitive pricing.

We are licensed to manufacture components incorporating the prewar MG trade mark.

We supply parts to both the MMM trade and individual MMM enthusiasts.

Many of our parts are manufactured in-house and are not available elsewhere, some are supplied to us, whilst others are specifically made for us and to exacting specifications of original components.

Over the past few years we have developed our manufacturing independence sourcing completely new sources to produce high quality components to include local CNC machinists to the Ministries of Aviation and Defence.

We seek to incorporate modifications of certain parts where there is a clear benefit and where there is not a conflict with originality. There are numerous examples highlighted throughout our catalogue pages and we hope you enjoy reading about what we are continuing to achieve.
