Quick Release 'Bonora' Filler Caps

During the 1930's there were two similar Bonora type caps produced with the main difference being in the profile of the quick release lever itself, some having more of a tapered shape which we note are being offered elsewhere. We wish to highlight however that we are offering the original CMI (Central Motor Institute Ltd) design as produced for the MG factory in the 1930's and as shown above.

In addition, we confirm that the filler caps we are offering are investment castings where the quality finish will be noticably different from sand castings. The larger fuel cap will shortly follow. We are taking provisional orders and are expecting the completion time to be mid August.

The price as usual will be fair and reflective of the finish although will have to be a little more than 16/- !

Oil Filter Housings

We have just finished our latest batch of oil filter housings which are double vacuum impregnated and are supplied complete with lid, stainless steel studs, nuts and washers. This filter housing can also be fitted to the J2.

Oil Filter Conversion Kit plus replacement filters
- P/L/K/N & J4

We now have available oil filter conversion kits which were originally only available with our oil filter housings. Having just produced a new batch, we have run off additional kits which will also fit into the original oil filter housings for P/N/L/K models. The platform incorporates a tapered locator outlet to lock into the casting and the filter recessed seating design creates an oil tight seal with the filter element. We supply an aluminium spring locating piece for the top of the filter element. As MMM owners now routinely change their filters, there is no real need to utilise the pressure relief valve unless you already have one for modification and having offered these in the past, we recognised that there was no real demand to justify the additional cost to the filtration system.

Engine Sump Dipstick Holder Castings

Here are a couple of parts which we understand has not been reproduced since the 1930's. We have taken a resin print from original castings and these are available now although primarily we have produced these to compliment our latest engine sump project from new patterns, to be introduced before the end of this month. The casting on the left is for the L/K1/K2 whilst the right hand casting is for the KD and incorporates the 1/2 inch BSP threaded boss to take the oil return from the cylinder head. These are both now in stock.

Spare Wheel Carrier Boss

Many original spare wheel carrier bosses have been damaged as a result of 'rear end shunts' or reversing into walls etc whereby the top threaded section was prone to breaking off. We have come accross other examples with missing fingers. Having received one such damaged example from a customer, we have made our own pattern and now offer this part.

The photo shows our product on the left which is just awaiting the 8 TPI, 15 degree, 1 57/65 OD thread to be machined. Our price has to reflect the sub-contracted machining cost of the internal thread.

Lucas L140 Style Headlamps

Vintage MG Parts are an appointed agent for retailing this exciting new part.

Lucas L140 headlamps (8 inch diameter) were fitted to many British cars of the 1930's to the late 1940's and were introduced to MG part way through the J Type period of production when Rotax merged with Lucas. They were then fitted to many MMM models as well as on the early T types. The quality of this reproduction lamp is superb, using highly skilled traditional British craftsmanship and are supplied complete to incorporate either frosted flat lenses for J types, or the original U-flute convex lens as fitted to P Types and later models.

Petrol Tank Straps & Rubbers

We have been requested to produce an accurate P Type petrol tank strap as these are not available to the correct original profile although the originals were crudely guillotined.

We also manufacture straps for the T Type and there is a subtle difference between those fitted to the P Type.

Seat Rake Adjusters - MMM & T Type

We now about to re-stock more sets of seat rake adjusters for enthusiasts not wishing to use the early wooden 'slat and rack' adjusters. Our first batch sold out withinthe first 3 weeks but we have an order book running for those wishing to reserve a set from the new batch currently being made.

Enots Hose Clips

We now stock Enots style hose clips (Patent Number 596597) as an alternative to the Nesthill clips and again, these are faithful reproductions being made out of the correct thickness 18 gauge brass which are then nickel plated.

This style of clip incorporates a wider operating range compared to the Nesthill clip and was commonly used during the 1930's by numerous British car manufacturers. Nesthill clips were however, more commonly fitted by the MG factory but where non standard original hose wall thicknesses are being used, then this could be the alternative period clip for you.

Initially, we are stocking the two most common sizes for MMM cars, i.e. 1 5/8 inch diameter for the lower radiator hose & water pumps with 1 7/8 inch diameter for the top fittings. We can however, also supply other sizes ranging from 7/8 inch to 3 inch diameter with 1/8 inch increments and these are available on request.

Body Mounting Clamps - Tall & Short

We are responding to customer demand to make this part properly as it should be i.e we use the fiddly sand core for to create the original recess profile to the tall clamps and also creates a stronger casting compared to any alternative solid infill type.

With the original clamps, over-tightening or misuse could cause cracking to the U-section bottom casting or cause a corner section of the platform to simply break off. Platform main centre sections do not fail in the original design. We cannot improve on the original MG design this time folks.

We are deliberately specifying surplus length to the stud section as we now use these on our VMGP supercharger kits

The photo on the right is a slightly larger version as used on the K Type and we can easily manufacture these if there is sufficient demand (original K Type bracket shown).

MMM Petrol Tanks

We are now able to supply J2 (late round back type) as well as P Type petrol tanks, complete with neck, breather and take-offs where appropriate. These are not the 20 gauge type but are made in a thicker 18 gauge and are usually in stock. Customers can also request changes to standard tank specifications, i.e. larger filler neck holes, telegage boss as per the J4 tank, or L2 specification etc although these will be made to order.

We are licensed to manufacture components incorporating the prewar MG trade mark.

We supply parts to both the MMM trade and individual MMM enthusiasts.

Many of our parts are manufactured in-house and are not available elsewhere, some are supplied to us, whilst others are specifically made for us and to exacting specifications of original components.

Over the past eighteen month period we have developed our manufacturing independence sourcing completely new sources to produce high quality components to include local CNC machinists to the Ministries of Aviation and Defence.

Throughout our revised catalogue format we now specify new standards we are setting in raising the quality and accuracy of some individual parts which have been made available through other sources. We are proud to have raised these standards that are now being recognised and followed by other enthusiasts and suppliers. We also seek to incorporate modifications of certain parts where there is a clear benefit and where there is not a conflict with originality. There are numerous examples highlighted throughout our catalogue pages and we hope you enjoy reading about what we are continuing to achieve.
